INTRODUCTION TO ACUPATCHING

AcuPatching™ is the combination of light therapy on acupuncture points to benefit you and your family. One of my colleagues, Robin Ray Green, coined the term AcuPatching™ to describe our ability to use this new technology called light therapy patching on specific acupuncture points.

Using Acupatching combines the power of acupuncture point stimulation with the benefits of light therapy. This is one tool that I use with my clients and patients where I select specific acupuncture points based on their main health concerns.

Light therapy has been around for hundreds of years and it is very well researched. And, there’s a novel technology that came on the market about 20 years that allows us to harness light therapy in a new and different way. This company is called LifeWave and they developed these light therapy patches. I have been using these patches since I had my practice in California over twenty years ago. At first, I used them with semi-pro and pro athletes to support them with endurance training and if they got injured. But, now, there are a number of patches to choose from with different light waves that will improve a number of health ailments or conditions.

HOW DO LIFEWAVE PATCHES WORK?

The Lifewave patches trap the infrared heat, and light that our body emits. They are uniquely designed to reflect back very specific wavelengths of light that initiate biochemical changes in the body. Much like when we go outside in the sunlight, and when the sun reaches our skin, it causes our body to initiate the production of vitamin D.

Each patch in the Lifewave lineup has a different wavelength of light, that initiates different biochemical changes in the body. For instance, the Y-age Glutathione patch initiates the production of glutathione in the body, and glutathione is known as the master antioxidant. This antioxidant activity is beneficial for a number of health benefits including, but, not limited to detoxification and the improvement of egg quality for fertility.

There are 11 different patches in the lineup, and they all do different things. Like I mentioned earlier, there’s the glutathione patch, there are patches that help support energy production, that help reduce cravings. There’s also a specific patch that helps to reduce inflammation, pain, and one that activates and mobilizes the body’s own stem cells.

Special Instructions to Improve the Effectiveness of Acupatching

When you begin with Acupatching, you will meet online with Dr. Gina, or one of her team members, to discuss your health concerns. Then, specific acupuncture points and areas will be prescribed for you to apply the patches to. An average of 2-4 patches are used at a time. The description of the points to find is easy and will be done live if you have your patches, or, via a video recording after you receive your patches.

When you use the patches make sure that you are well-hydrated. Drink plenty of water and add in electrolytes. Add a little bit of magnesium into your diet or take an Epsom salt bath to maximize the effectiveness of the patches.

MORE INFORMATION ON HOW THE LIFEWAVE PATCHES WORK

The body emits light in the infrared spectrum which is invisible to the naked eye. It can only be seen with specialized equipment like a thermal imaging camera. To help you understand how the patches work take a look at the picture on the right. It dramatizes what is happening when you put a patch near your body. The blue light you see on the arm is a visible representation of an invisible process. When the infrared light emitted by your body hits the crystalline structures in the patch, it causes specific wavelengths of light to be reflected back into the body. In the photo, this is represented as blue light shining onto the skin.

These wavelengths of light act as signals inducing positive biochemical changes in your cells. It’s similar to the way exposure to red light initiates collagen production in the skin or far-infrared light reduces pain and stiffness.

Light-induced biochemical changes, or photobiomodulation, is very well documented in the scientific literature.

Another well-known photobiomodulation process is vitamin D production. When the skin is exposed to UV light it initiates the body’s production of vitamin D, which is essential for calcium absorption and immune function.

When it comes to photobiomodulation with the patches, each one sends different wavelengths of light, or signals, to induce various biochemical and physiological changes in the body. These changes are real and measurable in blood and urine tests! For a deeper dive into the science behind this, watch the video here.

For example, when wearing the Y-age Glutathione patch, the body is signaled to initiate the production of glutathione. Research shows that serum (blood) glutathione levels can increase as much as 300%!

Even more impressive was the publication of the double-blind randomized controlled trial of the X39 patch. These results showed that the X39 patch significantly elevates serum levels of GHK-cu, a peptide that activates and mobilizes stem cells, compared to the control group. Check out the study HERE.

If you do a quick search of the term photobiomodulation on Pub Med, you’ll find hundreds of published studies on how light affects the body. There are also many light therapy devices that now available to the public. However, many of these devices are costly and time-consuming to use.

Acupuncturists have also noted that patches on acupuncture points produce effects similar to laser acupuncture and in some ways are more powerful than needles because the low-level stimulation can continue to restore balance to the meridians for 12 continuous hours it seems to increase the overall effectiveness of their treatments.
